Editorial callouts
Two marginal asides in italic Instrument Serif, each tied to its target by a dashed Bézier leader and a landing dot. The italic serif against the diagram’s sans and mono is what signals “editorial voice” — italic sans would not read the same way. Two is the hard maximum; past that it stops being signal and becomes commentary.
